Jessica Simpson Is Engaged to Eric Johnson

Jessica Simpson, the 30-year-old singer, and her boyfriend Eric Johnson, the 31-year-old former NFL football player, are engaged on Thursday (November 11), after seven months of dating.

A rep for Jessica Simpson confirmed that the two became engaged late last week, "We’re thrilled to confirm that it’s true! They are engaged.”

Simpson divorced from her ex-husband Nick Lachey in 2005 after three years of marriage. She began dating Johnson in this May while he was estranged from his first wife, stylist Keri Johnson. Johnson’s divorce was finalized last month.

Earlier the week, Nick popped the question to Vanessa Minnillo, his girlfriend of nearly five years.

Eric Johnson, also 30, previously played college football at Yale University. After graduation in 2001, he was drafted by San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints as a tight end. He is currently a free agent since the Saints released him in July 2008.

Simpson divorced from singer and actor Nick Lachey in 2006 after fours years of marriage. The star once dated Dallas Cowboys player Tony Romo for two years. But she was dumped by him on her birthday last year and hasn't really dated anyone since then.
